I love people who bet on themselves and chase their dreams. What I have found is that the achievement of those dreams isn’t solely based on talent or luck, although both are important, but a lot comes down to who you surround yourself with.
I help business owners and leaders understand the relationship we as human beings have with our work, enabling them to design roles effectively, hire intelligently, and produce great work with great people.
Who we surround ourselves with matters. We have unprecedented access to individuals, offering them endless options and opportunities. The intersection of design and people is here. How you design professional opportunities and the people you choose to fulfill them will be the difference maker.

The Professional Journey
After college, I entered the world of recruitment, where I spent eight years across two firms learning the art of selection, and seeing firsthand how the right person in the right role changes everything.
That experience raised a deeper question: how does our relationship to work shape who we become and the life we experience? My approach was to look back to the beginning, to see what our relationship to profession and life once looked like, and what it means now. From that simple question began my quest of discovery.
Eventually, that question pulled me into graduate school, where I immersed myself in studying work as both craft and identity. What I came to believe was simple but powerful: the profession we choose matters, and the way a role is designed makes all the difference in unleashing an individuals capabilities.
Author & Builder
These ideas became the foundation for two books:
Path Pavers – Written over two years of walks through Wisconsin woods with my shepherd, Augie. The process mirrored the book’s theme: paving your own path in the pursuit of interesting work.
Dealer’s Choice – The result of seven years of research and writing, dissecting the difference between jobs and roles and introducing a new strategic framework for role-based hiring and management.
Both works reflect my conviction that work is not just labor, but a medium of self-expression and mastery.

What Drives Me
I believe the work we choose matters, and how it’s designed makes all the difference.
I respect those who bet on themselves and are courageous enough to pave their own path.
My work is inspired by philosophy, psychology, and anthropology to explore how our relationship with work shapes who we are, become, and the lives we build. It’s also fueled by the heroic stories of misfits who became mavericks by breaking rules and rewriting their own playbooks along the way.
My approach is curious analysis, not judgment. Designing creative solutions to professional and people challenges.
Beyond Work
I’m a husband and father of two daughters, rooted in Wisconsin.
Fueled by my family, the joy of creativity, philosophy, and myth. Emerson, Jung, and Campbell shape my lens, while family and profession remind me that meaning lives in who we become along the journey, not in perfection.
